Practical Assessment HT2

Key concepts:
  • Denotation/connotation.
  • Camera shot, angle and movement.
  • Genre: codes and conventions.
  • Representation: stereotyping.
  • Audience appeal.
  • Intertextuality
  • Contexts to be used in your front page:
    • Harry and Meghan's Royal Wedding (£10million - Windsor [The Royal Family] paid for it).
    AND
    • The Grenfell Tower disaster (there's still people who haven't been relocated properly).
The context relates to the wedding ceremony of Harry and Meghan and how the windsor paid £10 million towards it, which derives from the tax payers money, while reaching an approximate total of £30 million spent. The Grenfell tower disaster occurred on the 14th of June 2017- one year before the the wedding, which illuminates how the royal family are not concerned about the wellbeing of the troubled population, rather being selfish with the use of money; in contrast where they could have invested in new homes for the survivors.
My target audience will be aimed towards the working and middle class workers as they form most of the mass population of England. This magazine would be used to inform them of how and where their tax money is allocated in the country as well as how the royal family can be corrupted.

The most useful form of intertextuality would be through images of the destruction of the Grenfell tower as well as information from the royal family to provide further context and analysis. This could easily be portrayed through politics or other third parties.

  1. Hi ALi,

S: I really like your design. It shows your photoshop skills very nicely.
I: You need to check your spellings... "... rather THEN on homes..."; "... rather THAN on homes...".
T: Check your spellings, also we need to make sure we complete all the activities in the task - look at the blog for this.

  2. S: I strong redraft... still, check your spelling.
I: Why did you choose to use a red border in your magazine? What intertextuality are you trying to reference?
T: Explain the question in your "Improve" suggestion.
